Mabelle’s Magical Books: A Warm Hug in a Boo(k)!

I recently ranked all my favorite children’s books from childhood favorites to current releases…and Mabelle’s Magical Books by Cathleen Roach and illustrated by Holli Lutes came in as my Top 3rd Favorite Children’s Book of All Time!

What I love about this story is that it’s a love letter you can give to any writer in your life, regardless of age, and it’ll feel like a warm hug. When my internet bookshop bestie, Eliza, over at Imaginary Adventures quit her day job to run a bookshop full time, this book was my bookshop warming present to her. Why? Because even grown ups, especially grown ups, need a reminder of why they love writing and books and stories when things get hard, and when you’re an author … or a bookshop owner … things are always hard.

The illustrations are detailed and gorgeous. I could spend time just flipping through the pages, wishing I was in Mabelle’s cozy shop rather than typing away here.

The story, though, is one of a kind. It is magical, really, and I don’t want to spoil it for you! But there’s a sweet little bookshop owner named Mabelle who tries to help a ghost find his missing Boo. But all the books Mabelle conjures up fall short until he finds the most magical book of all!
